Well hello – hello, my friends.

Yes,  it’s been awhile.

I’ve missed posting here, truly I have.

But I felt like I needed a little break away + our life seems in complete disarray at this moment in time.  But life is so good, blissful and sweet.  It really is, and it’s hard to make sense of it all, but Christmas break was fabulous with the kids at home and we seemed to have gotten many things done, but we still have so much to do.  Which is okay, because I don’t want to seem like I’m complaining.

But one of the things I was able to do is decorate our mantel.  After I took down Christmas everything was clean but bare feeling.  So I finally had a vision once I saw the wreath below on clearance!  So here is my Winter Bliss Mantel with free printable.

Winterscape Mantel with a Birch Wood Wreath
I rarely purchase wreaths, in fact I’m not sure when was the last time I purchased a wreath.  I enjoy making them so much.  But when I saw this Birch Wood Wreath on clearance at Target, I knew it had to come home with me.

I also thought it would be fun to layer some faux sheepskin fabric into my Winter mantel.   So I picked up a half yard from Joann’s and used a coupon and started working on my mantel.  I placed some books up there to hold it in place while I trimmed (sheered) 😉 the sheepskin.

Cutting the faux Sheepskin fabric to look more real
I just used regular scissors.  I didn’t want it to have the look of a straight line, because that really looks fake to me.  But I also didn’t want it to look like a scallop edge, either.  So I tried to give it a little jagged/real look.  It will shed, when you trim it.  So consider yourself warned.  But I LOVE the cozy feeling it brings to the mantel and an added layering element.  And for $4 dollars, you can beat it!

I can honestly say everything else came from Goodwill or from Habitat for Humanity Restore.  The pitcher, frame, the books, and even the glass display dome were all thrift store finds.  Gosh, how I love that.

Twigs for Winter Decor
I made the “Bliss” printable and you can download it at the bottom of this post.  I felt like my mantel needed something else so I created the printable using this feather graphic and of course a fun font.

I had to keep one strand of our Christmas lights.  I wasn’t ready to break up with them.

I usually have pops of color on my mantel.  So this soft undertone is a switch for me.  But I really like it.  Because it’s not too loud while I am still trying to get unpacked and get to know this house.  Like I have said before, I truly believe you have to live in a house for awhile until you can figure out some of the decor.  Right now I am perfectly content listening to this new house.

Below is the Bliss printable in a 8×10 size in either a white or a black font.
You might need to give it a second to fully load.
This printable is for personal use only.  I recommend using cardstock when printing.
